Thank you for contributing to CRPO’s draft Supervision Course Guideline!
In April 2026, CRPO’s new definition of a clinical supervisor comes into effect. Among other things, the upcoming definition expects new supervisors to have completed a 30-hour course on providing clinical supervision.
While CRPO is not currently planning on approving courses or supervisors, we will provide guidance on what the course should cover.
This survey was closed on September 24, 2024, you can view the feedback here. The draft will be presented to CRPO’s Registration Committee and Council for possible revision and approval.
CRPO is working on its first full by-law review since the original document was approved in 2013. We would appreciated your feedback!
We are circulating a draft to all registrants and system partners as required by legislation. We will make any needed changes based on your input before CRPO Council considers final approval.
While the draft revised by-laws are long, comment bubbles draw attention to significant changes, and a table of proposed changes summarizes them by topic.

CRPO is seeking feedback on a draft Supervision Tool. The tool was approved by the Examination Committee to support RP (Qualifying) registrants in preparing for the Registration Exam and to assist with determining upgrading activities after two failed exam attempts prior to making a third attempt.
The draft tool and feedback surveys for the tool can be found here.
Feedback on the content and format of the tool closed October 16, 2023.
CRPO is circulating a proposed by-law amendment setting an annual fee for registration in the Emergency Class category of registration. System Partners are welcome to complete the feedback survey by December 5, 2023.
In August 2023, the Ontario government enacted regulations for health regulatory colleges, including CRPO. These regulations create a new Emergency Class of registration. In appropriate circumstances, the Minister of Health, or CRPO Council, may determine there is an emergency requiring the expedited registration of RPs to serve Ontarians.
To be registered in the Emergency Class, an applicant must have been registered to practise psychotherapy in any regulated jurisdiction in which the requirements are similar to CRPO’s education, clinical experience, and registration examination requirements. Emergency Class registrants must practise with clinical supervision. An Emergency Class registrant may transfer to the Qualifying class of registration and follow the same requirements as all other applicants to transfer from Qualifying to the full RP category of registration.
CRPO is required to set an annual fee for the registration of Emergency Class registrants. CRPO is proposing the same fee as currently exists for Qualifying registrants. Both Emergency Class and Qualifying registrants have the opportunity to work toward full RP registration. Having the same fee promotes equity between the two registration categories.
The proposed fee would not affect current applicants or registrants. It would only apply in the future to individuals who register in the Emergency Class.
Proposed By-law Article 19.03 (vi.5):
The registration fee and the annual renewal fee for an Emergency Class certificate of registration is $321
This consultation was regarding proposed amendments to the Registration Regulation under the Psychotherapy Act, 2007 that would introduce an Emergency Class of registration, revise registration examination writing deadlines to coincide with the date of registration rather than application and clarify that at least one successfully completed program is required to meet the education requirement. This consultation closed on March 31, 2023.
As part of carrying out its mandate of public protection, CRPO is seeking feedback from the public, Registered Psychotherapists and other interested parties on proposed amendments to the clinical supervisor definition. Feedback received through this survey will be considered by Council. The deadline to submit feedback is April 30, 2023. The draft revised definition is available below.
CRPO is seeking feedback on the draft revised Professional Practice Standards.
The original standards were approved in 2014. Work on updating the standards has been ongoing since 2021 with the goal of ensuring they adequately protect the public, reflect evolving evidence, are fair to registrants and applicable across practice areas. This consultation closed on September 17, 2023.
