CRPO Governance

Learn how the CRPO upholds high standards, engages with system partners, and ensures public protection through transparent and accountable regulatory practices.

Background

The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) is overseen by a Council comprising nine elected members and additional public members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor-in-Council as per the Psychotherapy Act, 2007. CRPO provides comprehensive information on council elections, meetings, important dates, resources, and FAQs. Registered Psychotherapists interested in contributing as non-council members can find details on required knowledge, skills, application procedures, and eligibility.

CRPO regulates its registrants to protect the public interest, adhering to the Psychotherapy Act, 2007, the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, and associated regulations and by-laws.

The College Performance Measurement Framework, developed with the Ministry of Health, helps Ontario health profession regulators enhance public protection. CRPO regularly seeks feedback from the public, registrants, and system partners on proposed policies, processes, standards, and by-laws to support its mission of public protection.
