See the CRPO application types and requirements, category eligibility and access the manual on professional and legal duties, including details on the 14 controlled acts.

CRPO received 28% more applications between January and May 2025 compared to last year. Review timelines may be longer as we work to review the increased number of applications. We have allocated additional staff time to processing applications and hired new staff members. Please be patient as we train them.

To help us review applications efficiently, we will not be responding to application status inquiries. You can see your application status in your CRPO account.

You can also see the current month of applications under review by clicking on the banner. This information is updated weekly.

Navigate to pages in the toolbar above for the requirements on all CRPO application types, including education, conduct disclosures, and currency hours. A self-assessment tool helps unregulated practitioners determine if they need to restrict their practice or apply to CRPO.

Applicants must indicate if they completed a recognized training program; those who haven’t must use a mapping tool to show substantial equivalence. The Bridge to Registration and Employment in Mental Health program (BREM) aids students in achieving employment and registration in Canada. Ontario’s Labour Mobility Act and the Agreement on Internal Trade allows CRPO to accept equivalent qualifications from other provinces.

The section also details the eligibility criteria for the RP (Temporary) and RP (Emergency) registration categories. Additionally, it includes a manual on the professional and legal obligations of registered psychotherapists, emphasizing the details of performing the 14 controlled acts.
