Registration Regulation Update

Based on recent changes made to the Registration Regulation (see section 6 (4)), exam deadlines will now be based on the date that a Qualifying certificate of registration is issued by the College, rather than the date the Qualifying registrant applied to CRPO. That is, these deadlines are now based on the Qualifying registrant’s date of initial registration.

This means that the following two deadlines have changed:

  • You have a maximum of 24 months from the date of initial registration to make your first attempt at the exam, and
  • You have a maximum of five years from the date of initial registration to make your third and final exam attempt.

Please be aware that the exam deadlines listed in the Qualifying to RP section have not yet been updated. For now, you can confirm your first attempt deadline by taking the date of initial registration on your certificate of registration and adding 24 months. Similarly, you can confirm your third and final attempt deadline by taking the date of initial registration on your certificate of registration and adding five years.

The Fall 2025 sitting will be your final opportunity to attempt the exam if your first or third exam attempt deadline falls between October 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026. If you are approaching your first or third attempt deadline this fall, you will be notified in the communications sent to you by the College in July.

Exam Eligibility & Program Completion Documentation

To be eligible for the October 2025 exam, registrants must meet both of the following criteria:

  • Registration Date: Your CRPO registration date must be on or before July 8, 2025.
  • Program Completion Documentation: If not already submitted, your program completion documentation must be received directly from your school or third-party credential assessment agency by the College via email at info@crpo.ca no later than August 6, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. (ET).

You will be notified about your exam eligibility status in the communications that will be sent to you in July. CRPO recommends that all Qualifying registrants contact their school or credential assessment agency immediately if their program completion documentation is outstanding. It is the responsibility of Qualifying registrants to ensure their program sends their program completion documentation and that it is received by CRPO by the deadline. No extensions to the August 6 deadline will be granted.

Program Completion Documentation Options

Program Completion Documentation Options

  • Program Completion Documentation Options

For further clarification on what constitutes appropriate program completion documentation, please scroll to the right to determine which one applies to your situation.

  • Domestic Education Program: Final Transcript

If you completed your psychotherapy program in Canada, you must submit a final transcript confirming the degree or diploma has been awarded or conferred.

  • International Education Program: Final Credential Assessment

If you completed your psychotherapy program outside of Canada, you must submit a final credential assessment confirming the degree or diploma has been awarded or conferred.

  • Pending Graduation Ceremony: Final Letter from School

If you have completed all the program requirements of your education program and are only awaiting graduation, you may submit a letter from your school confirming that all requirements to graduate have been met and your anticipated graduation date. Both of these items must be confirmed in order to be considered for exam eligibility.

Remote Proctoring

The exam will be delivered exclusively using an online platform with remote proctoring, in partnership with MonitorEDU. It is the responsibility of candidates to meet the minimum standards for remotely proctored examinations as identified on the CRPO website.

Candidates are responsible for providing a safe, secure, and private area for testing. Candidates must meet the established minimum requirements for internet connectivity, technical hardware, and testing environment. Candidates’ hardware requirements and internet bandwidth must be pre-checked through MonitorEDU.

Remote proctoring has unique safety and security requirements that include locking down the candidate’s computer browser to prevent access to any programs or sites other than the examination platform. The remote proctor is a live individual who monitors the candidate through livestreaming using the candidate’s computer webcam and a smartphone camera.

CRPO recommends that all Qualifying registrants review the information related to the minimum requirements for technology and environmental conditions, Candidate Agreement, Exam Resource Manual and other exam prep resources posted on the Registration Exam page to ensure they are aware of their exam-related obligations.

Universal Design

  • Universal Design

To support all persons in engaging fully in the Registration Examination process, several priority steps (in accordance with WCAG AA standards) have been undertaken for all test-takers.

For the exam, registrants will have the option to request access to certain items, such as medication, glucose meter, and a service animal, by the August 6th deadline.

Details on what and how to report these items will be included in the communications sent to you by the College in July.

Accessibility & Accommodations

  • Accessibility & Accommodations

Registrants with accommodation needs must alert CRPO and submit complete accommodation documentation by no later than August 6, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. (ET). This will give the examination hosting authority sufficient time to evaluate the request for accommodations, seek resources, and confirm arrangements.

Any incomplete accommodation request forms will not be accepted after this deadline. Registrants with incomplete submissions will need to either write the exam without accommodations or wait until the next available sitting.

  • Accessibility & Accommodations

If you intend to write the upcoming fall exam and require exam accommodations, please review the Exam Accommodations page to ensure you are familiar with the process and requirements.

If you require assistance accessing the Exam Accommodations page, have any questions about requesting accommodations for the October 2025 exam sitting, or require support over the phone, please contact exam@crpo.ca or call 416-479-4330, Option 2.

Steps for Applying for an Accommodation

Have the Documentation of Disability/Condition/Injury-Related Testing Accommodation Needs form (Section Two) completed by a currently registered medical doctor, psychologist, psychological associate or other regulated health professional who is familiar with you and who has specific training, expertise and experience in the diagnosis of the condition(s) for which the accommodation is being requested. This form must be current (within five years) of applying for accessibility and reasonable accommodations for an examination sitting. Updated assessments and/or diagnostic information are not required as part of the application process.

Fill out the Computer-Based Testing Accessibility and Reasonable Testing Accommodations Request form (Section One).

Gather additional supporting documentation if it is helpful in clarifying your situation. This is optional but may include:

  • A letter from your workplace signed by an appropriate representative of the workplace, dated, and on letterhead that describes workplace accommodations that would also be relevant to writing the examination.
  • A letter or documentation from an educational institution signed by an appropriate representative of Student Support Services/Access Office, dated, and on institutional letterhead that confirms test-taking accommodations. Please note that accommodations for assignments only will not be sufficient.

Submit all documentation from steps 1, 2 and 3 to your regulatory college by the August 6th deadline. Instruction on where to submit your accommodation documentation will be included in the exam communications that will be sent to you in July.

All documentation must be specific to the particular candidate requesting the accessibility and reasonable accommodation and must be specific in its description of the accommodation required to provide the particular candidate with an equal opportunity to attain the same level of performance on the examination as persons without an identified disability.

Communications Reminder

  • Communications Reminder

To ensure you receive all exam-related updates, please:

    • Check that the email address on file in your CRPO user account is current and accurate. You can update your email for communication with CRPO staff in the “Personal information” page of your CRPO account.
    • Use an email account that is checked frequently; not overly cluttered; and has security settings that you can control. Certain hospitals, schools or organizations have firewalls in place that might block emails that have many recipients or are sent by an email service.
    • Make a habit of checking “spam” and “junk” folders to ensure important communications from the College do not get filtered there. To prevent this from happening, we recommend that you confirm all emails from @crpo.ca are “safe senders” or “trusted senders”.

Please note that no extensions to deadlines will be granted for email communication issues.
